Coat-weight melton wool. Brand new fabric in a solid black, tightly woven and heavier weight at over a pound per yard, almost looks felted. This material is stiffer and denser than other fabrics and would work well if sewing with thinner seams or clipping inner seams.

Melton fabric is a dense tightly woven fabric that is felted and heavily brushed for an ultra-soft hand. This versatile fabric can be used for coats, jackets, vests, blankets and historical clothing replications. The fabric is twice as thick as shirt flannel.
